I'm seeing Deliver Us From Evil on Monday and I'm looking forward to it. He has written a book, Beware the Night, which details many of his paranormal investigations his accounts were later the basis of the film Deliver Us from Evil. Inspired by the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases. Ralph Sarchie (14 June 1962, New York City) is a retired NYPD sergeant and traditionalist Catholic demonologist. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. Based on a book by Ralph Sarchie, a former New York City police officer who became an investigator of demonology, Evil follows Sarchie (Eric Bana) as he ghost-busts the creepy goings-on in the Bronx. We've got a featurette on the real Sarchie's cases for you, one of which inspired the soon-to-be-released horror film from writer/director Scott Derrickson ( Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose). But it is his other job that he calls the Work. In the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil, in theaters July 2, Eric Bana plays real-life NYPD sergeant and demonologist Ralph Sarchie. A sixteen-year NYPD veteran, Ralph Sarchie works out of the 46th Precinct in New Yorks South Bronx.
